Job Description - Executive Advisor

This is a flexible role that allows for part-time or full-time commitment; all Executive Advisors are 100% commission-based. While Executive Advisors work remotely, we have a preference for individuals located in major metropolitan areas. The Company is looking for an Executive Advisor that will source and cultivate clients as an M&A Advisor or Business Intermediary; the role is for an experienced and highly driven B2B sales professional that has established contacts in their business communities and beyond. This is an ideal role for someone with a strong rolodex within their respective business communities, a semi-retired executive with a strong business network, or a strong, driven B2B salesperson who enjoys and understands business development. The Executive Advisor acts as a 'front line' sales person with a direct focus on assisting clients who are looking to exit or grow their business. Applicants with prior roles at M&A Advisory firms, Business Brokers, consulting firms and financial firms are encouraged to apply.

Our Advantage

One key benefit of joining our team versus a typical “business broker” model is that our Company only requires our Executive Advisors to focus on what they do best: sourcing and cultivating relationships that result in winning clients in a highly-competitive space. We do not ask our Executive Advisors to execute transactions (i.e. market deals, find buyers, build financial models, put together marketing materials, etc.) once mandates are awarded. Our internal deal execution team handles the entire transaction once a client signs up.

The Executive Advisor

As an Executive Advisor, you will call upon and visit potential clients. While some in-house leads exist, the Executive Advisor is expected to generate their own leads via existing and new contacts, and utilizing the Company’s materials for outreach when appropriate. Lead generation and client sourcing are the primary functions of the position, but duties also include:

  • Sourcing and qualifying relevant prospective clients

  • Preliminary assessment of the sale ability of a potential client’s business

  • Explaining and selling the services of the Company

  • Drawing upon our Company’s resources to effectively position us to earn the clients’ business. This includes following up with prospects, utilizing our proprietary industry research, and effectively proposing our services in assisting potential clients in the sale/exit of their businesses.

  • Managing the business development lifecycle for prospective clients, including and up to the execution of an engagement letter.

 

Specific Qualifications / Desired Attributes

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Proven professional sales experience in a Business to Business environment, preferably in selling professional business services

  • Basic financial acumen, with an understanding of the basic components of financial statements

  • Basic understanding of what is involved in mergers and acquisitions

  • Basic understanding of how to use some form of CRM systems

  • Proven ability to generate highly-qualified sales leads through new outreach, or utilizing your own existing professional network

  • Preferred: proven relationships with business owners or relevant business community

  • Preferred: evidence of active participation in the business community. Examples include past/present participation in speaking events, networking groups, chambers of commerce, Vistage, the Alternative Board, Entrepreneurs’ Organization, etc.)
